If it's something like rougery you don't need 10 attr cause technically you can ransom 20k prisoners at once and level up in one go (uses the multiplier you have at the beginning). Other than those types where you gain exp en mass you need 10. Feel free to correct me if there are other tricks that let you do this for all skills.
To that end, make sure you have some Riding skills.
